Face liposuction is not a very popular procedure since the face naturally lose volume as we age, but on some cases, instead of the fat going away, it goes down and drags the skin heavily with it, giving the heavy jowl appearance. For younger patients, a heavy lower face gives and older impression because generally, a youthful appearance have wider upper face while older people have an inverted V (wide lower face) contour.
WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES FOR FACE LIPOSUCTION IN THAILAND?
A personal assessment is always necessary to confirm the need for a facial liposuction. What seems like fatty face can sometimes be caused by buccal fat which can be corrected by buccal fat removal and not liposuction. Sometimes, removal of fat on the jowls may cause mora sagging on the skin as well, hence, a personal evaluation is very important.
Good candidates for this procedure are those with good amount of fat on the cheek and jowl area, with good skin integrity. Patients who do this procedure should also have a clear understand that not all fat will be removed, only the excess fat, because the face needs some fat to look healthy and youthful.
HOW IS FACE LIPOSCUTION IN THAILAND DONE?
Since the face is a very visible area and the amount of fat is not much to begin with and is usually done under local anesthesia, our center uses Micro Cannula to lessen the discomfort during surgery. Despite this however, patients should still expect swelling and bruising around the face area.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE FOR FACE LIPOSUCTION IN THAILAND?
Like all liposuction procedures, face liposuction in Thailand will usually require a compression garment (especially the under chin area) which should be worn round the clock for at least 1 week following surgery. The compression garment facilitates better skin attachment and minimizes chances of fluid build-up. While the surgery is pretty minor, a certain amount of swelling for the first 2-3 days is to be expected so patients may actually look bigger than before surgery. It will take 1-2 weeks for most of the swelling to subside and at least 2-6 months for the full result to settle.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BUCCAL FAT REDUCTION AND FACE LIPOSUCTION IN THAILAND?
While both buccal fat reduction and face liposuctions are procedures to slim down the face, buccal fat and cheek or jowl fat are different. The location of the buccal fat pad is deeper, beneath the muscle that’s why it is removed through an incision from inside the mouth while normal cheek/jowl fat is the fat just under the skin which will respond well with liposuction.
